Field Trip & Internship at EGAC Warehouse ✈

GMC’s latest "field trip" took us to the Evergreen Air Cargo Service (EGAC) warehouse!

A huge thank you to the EGAC team for their detailed presentation, which gave our staff a deeper understanding of the air freight import and export cargo handling workflows. In addition to introducing key processes such as cargo consolidation and storage, the tour also featured a visit to the Express Cargo Warehouse, guiding us through the layout and zone planning of their internal facilities.

The entire warehouse facility operates 24/7/365. Due to the time-sensitive nature of express cargo, the warehouse is equipped with ample cold storage facilities. This ensures that perishable goods—such as seafood, fresh flowers, and fruits—remain fresh, allowing customs clearance and release procedures to be completed swiftly.

🔎 What is Apron Clearance?

- Criteria for Express/Apron Clearance Cargo -

📦 Fresh goods, live animals and plants, perishables, human remains, dangerous goods, and other specific items for air import/export may be approved for apron clearance or immediate pickup upon apron inspection exemption.

- Customs Clearance Fees -

📦 For shipments valued at USD 5,000 or above, the Special Inspection Fee is TWD 1,300. For shipments valued under USD 5,000, the fee is halved.

📦 For imported/exported animals or seafood, if the cargo owner requests feeding, oxygenation, heating, water changes, or icing, a Supervision Fee of TWD 450 will be charged, and an application form must be prepared in advance.
