Ciguei is a traditional folk blessing ceremony where people ask the deities for an auspicious tortoise as a symbol of good fortune and divine protection. Through this ritual, people pray for peace, good health, and career success in the coming year. Since the tortoise represents longevity and prosperity, these ceremonial tortoises are beautifully crafted from rice, pastries, or Sachima (soft flour cake)—rest assured, no real tortoises are involved in the worship! 🤣
